What is the GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM®?

It is a system of exercise that originates from the spine thru arching, curling, sidebending and spiralling and progresses into a workout that incorporates the entire body. These spinal articulations and the corresponding work of the arms, legs, back and abdominals move the body in a three dimensional way. This helps foster greater balance and uniform strength and flexibility of the spine, muscles, joints, and the surrounding connective tissue.

Exercises are performed on the Pulley Tower and specialized equipment; the LEG EXTENSION UNIT, ARCHWAY™, JUMPING STRETCHING BOARD, and WINGMASTER. Exercises and equipment are adjusted according to the needs and strengths of its users. Students move fluidly from one exercise to the next using their breath and the natural rhythm of the spinal motions of the body. Students can feel like they are dancing or moving through water. Exercises can be gentle or vigorous, depending on the intent, and students can gain cardiovascular strength and relaxation simultaneously. Execises can be modified for those with injuries or for people seeking a challenging workout.

What is the GYROKINESIS® method?

Utilizing a stool and mat, GYROKINESIS® classes begin energizing and warming the spine on the stool with spinal articulations, and progress to the floor incorporating the entire body through a full workout. Movements are rhythmic and undulating freeing the body from tension and stress and creating an overall sense of peace and balance.
